Amsterdam es una ciudad conocida no solo por ser la capital de los Países Bajos sino también por ser reconocida como un bastión de la tolerancia tanto religiosa como de otros tipos. Si hablamos de Amsterdam como destino turístico hay que decir que por la mencionada tolerancia es uno de los favoritos de los jóvenes de todo el continente europeo y del mundo. En esta hermosa ciudad, con su arquitectura típica del siglo XVII, se pueden vivir experiencias de todo tipo y conocer tesoros culturales y artísticos como lo son las obras de los geniales artistas VanGogh, y Rembrandt. Además, como Amsterdam pertenece a un conglomerado urbano integrado por las ciudades mas importantes del país se pueden realizar visitas y tours a variados destinos. Para recorrer la ciudad de Amsterdam la mejor manera es hacerlo en bicicleta, la mayoría de los habitantes de la ciudad prefieren hacerlo de esta manera y la gran cantidad de bicicletas recorriendo las calles forman una postal típica de la ciudad, aunque el transporte público está bien organizado, y es cómodo. Una de las fechas más interesantes para visitar Amsterdam es el 30 de abril, cuando se celebra el “Día de la Reina”, festividad en la que todos los ciudadanos salen a celebrar en las calles vestidos de naranja (color característico de la casa real), a beber y a compartir su alegría con todos. Esta fiesta es todo un Carnaval para la “Venecia del norte” como también se conoce a Amsterdam. ¿Qué ver? En Amsterdam hay muchos museos de donde escoger. Por ejemplo esta el Rijkmuseum, museo de la casa Rembrandt, o el museo de VanGogh. Si no estás tan interesado en la pintura puedes visitar el museo de cera de Madame Tussaud o la casa de Ana Frank. Si eres un aficionado al deporte seguramente querrás presenciar algún encuentro en el “Amsterdam Arena”, la casa del Ajax, equipo que dio a luz a una de las figuras más importantes para la historia del football mundial, Johan Cruyff. Otro lugar muy colorido y divertido para visitar es el mercado flotante de flores que funciona desde 1862. En Amsterdam rige lo que se conoce como “Geodoogbeleid”, o “política de tolerancia”. Esta permite la existencia de lugares conocidos como “Coffe Shops” donde se puede comercializar pequeñas cantidades de las llamadas “drogas blandas”. Estos lugares son los puntos de reunión de la mayoría de la juventud que los elige para comenzar sus salidas de juerga. ¿Dónde quedarse? Amsterdam no es una ciudad muy económica, por lo tanto, si dispones de un presupuesto algo ajustado lo mas conveniente seria que te alojes en algún hostal(hostel) de los que se pueden encontrar habitualmente en todas las ciudades importantes de Europa. En Amsterdam en particular podrás encontrar hostales (hostels) y albergues en la zona céntrica de la ciudad, particularmente en la Warmoesstraat, o la avenida Damrak. Aunque también podrás encontrar buenos hostales (hostels) en lo barrios como Jordaan, y en el conocido como Barrio Chino o Distrito Rojo, donde además de los hostales podrás ver que hay gran cantidad de “coffee Shops” y otras atracciones relacionadas con la oferta sexual autorizada en esa zona.
